ISTA Responds

Transformational work, particularly in the realm of sexuality, often attracts controversy and scrutiny. We recognize that ISTA's unique approach may lead to misunderstandings or criticisms and that ISTA may periodically be the target of controversy.

Over the past two years, we have invested significant time and resources into mediation, education, and the restructuring of our governance, sexual protocols, and other essential systems. You can learn more about these improvements here. In 2023, we introduced a new Accountability Process, along with a new feedback portal, an incident report form, and a third-party anonymous feedback option. These tools make it easier and safer for anyone to share feedback with ISTA, especially in the event of challenging experiences during our trainings.

While we acknowledge that ISTA has made mistakes in the past, we remain committed to the care and well-being of our training participants. Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

At the same time, ISTA is dedicated to addressing any misinformation, inaccuracies, or unjust attacks on ISTA and its faculty, training participants, and venues. This includes providing accurate information and clarifying misunderstandings.

Below, we share official responses to some of the most common misunderstandings and distortions about ISTA and its operations.
